AVA has implemented and maintains a comprehensive and effective health and safety and program. This safety program is documented in AVAs Health and Safety Manual. AVA programs and activities are designed to meet or exceed the requirements of health, safety, and regulations issued by Federal, Provincial, and local agencies. All work performed by AVA will be conducted according to the instructions and procedures in AVAs Health and Safety Manual.
AVA’s safety policy is designed to be a living program and NOT simply a written document. Our policy is to prevent and minimize, to the fullest extent practical, all risks to the environment, health, safety, and well-being of our employees and the public.
AVA establishes and maintains Hazard Assessments, Safe Work Practices and Safe Job Procedures and Controls, including maintenance and operating criteria, to address safety policies. These practices and procedures are critical to ensure that the Safety hazards are addressed and health and safety policies and objectives are met.
This Health and Safety System ensures the management structure is in place to address the impacts of processes and services on health and safety. It will enable AVA to identify the health and safety hazards of its activities, process and/or services which it can control and demonstrate due diligence to its stakeholders.
AVA is a member of several compliance management networks such as ISNetworld and Complyworks. These networks help to streamline contractor and client prequalification by providing easy access to all pertinent documentation such as insurance, WCB, and safety statistics.
AVA is in the final stages of securing COR certification, COR shows that the AVA’s health and safety management system has been evaluated by a certified auditor and meets provincial standards. These standards are established by Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
